How To Recalibrate Your Switch 2 Battery

The Nintendo Switch 2 improves on the original model in a number of ways, including a bigger screen, more powerful internals, and additional features like mouse control and GameChat. However, many users are finding that the battery seems to be draining quickly, and a lot faster than their original Switch.

If you're noticing the battery draining quicker than usual, worry not. Most likely, there is an issue with the battery display, and not necessarily the battery itself. Luckily, this is simple enough to fix, which we'll show you how to do below.

Should You Recalibrate Your Battery?

First and foremost, it's important to understand why recalibrating your battery would be necessary. To be clear, there is most likely nothing wrong with the battery itself, and instead, the battery charge indicator is incorrectly showing the wrong charge level.

This is a common enough issue with Lithium-ion batteries, and the problem typically works itself out over time. This means using your Switch 2 normally will slowly recalibrate the battery on its own, and eventually, it will display correctly.

That said, there's no harm in manually recalibrating your battery if you suspect it may be inaccurate, so proceed as desired.

How To Recalibrate Your Switch 2 Battery

If you don't want to wait for the battery to recalibrate itself from normal use, you can recalibrate the battery manually. To do this, follow these steps.

  1. Hold down the power button, choose Power Options, then Power Off to fully turn off your Switch 2.
  2. Hold down both the volume upand volume down buttons, and press the power button once to boot the system into Recovery Mode.
  3. Simply booting the device into Recovery Mode should fix the calibration issue, so press the power button again to turn it off.
  4. Power the device back on and check the battery indicator.

If you see a difference in the battery indicator, your battery is successfully recalibrated. If you don't see a difference, it's possible it was already calibrated correctly.

If you're still having issues with the battery, it's probably time to send it in for repairs.
