How To Gain iPhone Storage Without Losing Your Data

When your phone is low on storage space, the first thing you may think of doing, naturally, is deleting files that take up the most space. Inevitably, anytime you delete, you’re deleting data as well. Even the act of clearing your cache will remove stored cached data, but also can affect your documents and photos. There are two ways you can gain back storage space without compromising on data — both involve knowing how to handle all of those videos, photos, and documents that take up tons of space, as well as the most space-sucking apps on your device.

Changing the way you do things ever so slightly can help. Here are two ways to gain iPhone storage without losing data.

1. Offload Apps

When you delete apps that take up storage space, all of that data disappears unless you’ve managed to save it somewhere like a Cloud service. But you can also offload apps instead of deleting them, and this removes the app temporarily, but keeps the data app on your phone. If you change your mind later, you can always reinstall it later and your data will be secure.

2. Save Photos to iCloud Storage

You can easily delete all of those space-grabbing photos and videos on your phone to gain storage space, but first save media files to iCloud storage so that you don’t lose data. Enable iCloud Photos to store your files in iCloud by heading to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Photos, then enable iCloud Photos and Optimize iPhone Storage. Then make sure you back up your iPhone data to the Cloud by going to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup and turn on iCloud Backup.
